CRAIG, Colo.—Firefighters are crediting three Craig police officers with rescuing a man from a burning house, where a woman died.

The Craig Daily Press reports ( ) the officers who arrived at the home Tuesday night were met with thick smoke but found a man not far from the door. He was rescued and taken to a hospital.

Police Chief Walt Vanatta says a woman who was at the home died at the scene.

The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately known.
