The software that powers your cellphone, the equivalent of Windows on Desktop PCs. For smartphones, the two primary mobile-operating systems are Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android. In general, iOS (the software for iPhones) is regarded as an easier system to use and learn, while Android is known for its customizable features. Both include e-mail programs, Web browsers and access to online stores to download third-party apps. Microsoft is trying to get back into the mobile game with the Windows Phone OS but holds just a tiny share of the market.
