John Grant Jr. led a torrid fourth-quarter offensive attack with two goals and an assist and Chris Levis turned in his best performance of the season saving 40- of-47 shots as the Colorado Mammoth defeated the Minnesota Swarm 12-7 on Saturday night at the Pepsi Center.

Mammoth forward Sean Pollock broke a 7-7 tie late in the fourth quarter with his second tally of the night.

Grant remains at the top of the league with 52 points and 23 goals.

DU’s high not enough for win. The University of Denver’s 20th-ranked women’s gymnastics team posted a road season-high point total Saturday night in Columbus, Ohio, but lost to 11th-ranked Ohio State 197.625 to 195.450. DU senior Louise Mercer won the bars with a career-high 9.900.

Roadrunners open with split. Metro State opened its baseball season by splitting a doubleheader with Hastings (Neb.) College in Pueblo. The Roadrunners won the first game 6-3 and lost the second game 3-1.
