A 17-year-old boy with a face familiar to police was arrested for allegedly robbing a Conoco gas station in Lafayette this morning, police said.
The teen is accused of passing a note to a store clerk “threatening her life and demanding cash” at the station at 290 North U.S. Highway 287 in Lafayette at about 6:40 a.m.
The boy took the cash and left. When a police officer reviewed the store’s surveillance tapes, he recognized the teen from “previous criminal dealings.” Police went to the teen’s home and arrested him, recovering the cash and the note used in the robbery. No weapon was found, however.
The boy’s name was not released because he is a juvenile.
He was booked into the the Boulder County Juvenile Detention Facility on the charges of felony aggravated robbery, felony menacing and theft under $500, a misdemeanor.
