Adam Zika of the University of Colorado edged the University of Denver’s Espen Lysdahl to win the men’s giant slalom Thursday at the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association alpine qualifer No. 3 at Bridger Bowl in Bozeman, Mont.
Tii-Maria Romar of Utah won the women’s GS. CU’s Katie Hartman, Erika Ghent and Jennifer Allen finished fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively.
CSU’s Brus fourth in pentathlon. Cate Brus of Colorado State finished fourth in the women’s pentathlon at the Mountain West indoor track and field championships in Albuquerque with 3,407 points — 456 points behind the winner, San Diego State’s Allison Reaser. Air Force’s Lesly Torres was fifth with 3,318 points.
Pioneers swimmers sitting pretty. The University of Denver swimming and diving teams swept two events at the Sun Belt Conference championships in Rockwall, Texas. Rachel Burns, Bailey Beins and Sam Corea finished 1-2-3 in the women’s 50 freestyle, and Robert Barrett, Kyle Milberg and Doug Mackenzie did the same in the men’s 200 individual medley. The defending champion Pioneers lead after Day 2, the women holding a 275-256 edge over Western Kentucky, while the men lead WKU 294.5-293-5.
