The old Colorado Feed & Grain building in downtown Timnath burned this morning and it took firefighters over an hour to put it out in windy conditions.
Poudre fire dispatchers got a call at 1:03 a.m. that the fire was on the top floor of the town’s landmark. Four people live in the building with pets.
Thousands of gallons of water were streamed at the fire to try to control it. Portions of the building, located at the corner of Third and Main streets, were saved.
At one point elevated master streams were used to pour thousands of gallons of water per minute to control the fire.
Colorado Feed & Grain was once a stopping point for agricultural businesses, according to the Poudre Fire Authority. At the time of the fire, it housed apartments and a woodworking business.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
