Meghan Heimstra came off the bench and scored a career-high 21 points Saturday, including 13 points in just nine minutes, and powered Colorado State to a 68-65 victory over San Diego State at Moby Arena in Fort Collins.

The game went down to the final seconds as the Rams (13-15, 9-4 Mountain West) and the Aztecs (22-6, 11-2) battled for the win.

Freshman point guard LaDeyah Forte made a basket to give Colorado State a 64-62 lead with 43 seconds remaining. On San Diego State’s ensuing possession, the Aztecs threw the ball away to give the Rams the ball with only 28 seconds left. CSU held on for the victory.

CSU senior guard-forward Kim Mestdagh finished her last home game with 16 points, six assists and four rebounds.

The Rams completed their home conference schedule undefeated.

Kristen Holt notched her 50th victory at Colorado State, becoming the third Rams coach to reach 50 wins in four seasons or fewer. Chris Denker compiled 50 wins in three seasons when he coached the Rams. Tom Collen led the Rams, when Becky Hammon was their star, to 50 wins in just two seasons at the helm.

California 64, Colorado 43  

BERKELEY, Calif. — The Buffaloes (16-11, 5-11 Pac-12) committed 17 turnovers that led to 18 points for the Golden Bears (22-7, 13-4). The loss was Colorado’s fourth straight.

California broke a 22-22 tie with a 16-3 run in the final 7:40 of the first half, enabling the Bears to take a 38-25 lead at halftime.

The Buffaloes rallied in the second half, cutting their deficit to seven points, but Layshia Clarendon led the Bears on an 18-6 run that clinched their victory.

Chucky Jeffery led Colorado with 18 points and seven rebounds.

UNLV 86, Air Force 48 

AIR FORCE ACADEMY —  Looking for their first conference win, the Falcons (5-23, 0-13 Mountain West) allowed four Lady Rebels (21-8, 9-4) players to score in double figures. Air Force was outscored 38-4 down the stretch.

Alicia Leipprandt led the Falcons with 16 points and teammate Dymond James scored 10 points.

Northern Colorado 62, Weber State 54 

OGDEN, Utah — Kaisha Brown scored 26 points, lifting the Bears (16-11, 9-5 Big Sky) over the Wildcats (2-26, 0-15).

Brown made four 3-pointers and became just the ninth player in Big Sky Conference history with 200 career 3-pointers.

Boise St. 61, Wyoming 53 

BOISE, Idaho — After leading by 11 points at halftime, the Cowgirls (11-15, 7-6 Mountain West) were outscored 44-25 in the second half and lost to the Broncos (14-14, 5-8).

Wyoming’s Chaundra Sewell finished with her 11th double-double of the season, scoring 27 points and grabbing a career-high 15 rebounds.

Metro State 70, Regis 58 

In their last game of the regular season, the Roadrunners (24-2, 20-2 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) put five players in double-figure scoring for just the second time this season. Senior Caley Dow’s 14 points led the win over the Rangers (11-17, 9-13).

Seventh-ranked Metro State finished the regular season with a six-game win streak and won the RMAC championship for the second year in a row.

Joining Dow in double figures were Jasmine Cervantes (12 points), Emily Wood (12), Alyssa Benson (11) and Jenessa Burke (11). Metro State made 47.4 percent of its shots, including 5-for-10 on 3-pointers. The Rangers made only 33.3 percent of their shots. The Roadrunners outrebounded Regis 42-29.

The Roadrunners will host an RMAC Shootout quarterfinal game at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Men

Colorado Mines 88, CU-Colorado Springs 52 

COLORADO SPRINGS — Brian Muller scored 17 points and Dale Minschwaner added 15 as the No. 1 Orediggers (24-2, 20-2 RMAC) defeated the Mountain Lions (8-20, 7-15) to take the conference regular-season title for the second straight season.

Colorado Mines led CU-Colorado Springs 39-26 at the half, and went on to outscore the Mountain Lions 49-26 in the second.

The Orediggers will host an RMAC Shootout game Tuesday.

Metro State 81, Regis 55 

Jonathan Morse went over the 1,000-point mark for his career as he scored 19 points, leading the No. 15 Roadrunners (22-5, 17-5) over the Rangers (5-21, 2-20).

Morse added 13 rebounds for his 15th double-double this season, and teammate Reggie Evans put up 24 points.

The Roadrunners outrebounded Regis 51-24 and forced 19 turnovers.

Metro led 40-29 at halftime after outrebounding the Rangers 24-9 in the first half. A 21-3 run early in the second half pushed the Roadrunners’ lead to a game-high 29 points at 68-39 with 10:44 left. The Rangers never got closer than 24 points the rest of the game.

Dionte Goodlett led Regis with 11 points.

With the win, the Roadrunners finished second in the RMAC for the second year in a row. They will host an RMAC Shootout quarterfinal game at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
