Strong westerly winds caused significant delays at Denver International Airport on Saturday. The delays were expected to continue until 10 that night.
Planes were arriving up to two hours and 40 minutes behind schedule, and flights taking off from DIA were delayed by about 30 minutes, said Laura Coale, the airport’s media-relations director.
The National Weather Service clocked winds at 53 mph at the airport Saturday afternoon.
Winds were expected to taper off overnight, setting up for a cooler day today with a high of 41 degrees.
Saturday’s high of 65 in Denver did not get close to the record of 74 degrees set in 1986.
The next chance for snow in the Denver area is Monday evening through Tuesday, the National Weather Service said.
DIA advised travelers to check with their airlines, especially before heading out to pick someone up at the airport.
