EVANS, Colo.—A 9-month-old baby is safe and a man is in custody after Evans police stopped a car being sought in the girl’s disappearance.
Sheridan police said early Monday that Naveah Lopez is being taken to a hospital to be checked out.
Police say the girl’s mother was at a relative’s home in Sheridan Sunday night and left 29-year-old Peter Madrid alone with the infant.
Sgt. Paul Wszolek said when the mother returned, the vehicle and baby were missing.
Police say Madrid was arrested and is facing several felony charges.
