BOULDER – — Japan’s Ricoh Co. this week conducted layoffs at its U.S. operations including its site in Boulder, a company official confirmed Wednesday.
Peter Lazaroff, a spokesman for Ricoh Production Print Solutions’ office in Boulder, declined to disclose the number of employees affected, but said the action was the result of a continued plan to reduce the company’s workforce to put it in a “proper position to be profitable.”
Last year, Ricoh announced plans to configure its production print resources operations, move its InfoPrint Solutions headquarters to New Jersey from Boulder and form a new entity called Ricoh Production Print Solutions. At the time, Ricoh officials said that about 9 percent of the company’s 109,000-person workforce would lose their jobs.
