FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Firefighters are labeling a fire in a Colorado State University residence hall as suspicious.

The fire Tuesday night prompted evacuations at the Ingersoll residence hall on campus, but Poudre Fire Authority officials say the fire was contained to a first-floor closet.

Firefighters say smoke and water damage affected eight surrounding rooms and part of a hallway. Poudre Fire Authority officials estimate the damage at around $10,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
