Shea Homes is holding a grand opening in its scenic, kid-friendly BackCountry at Highlands Ranch today that features two new family-sized luxury models – but also a whole new way of looking at the housing market in Colorado. Shea has taken seven reservations for its sharp looking Water Dance Collection homes since Jan. 1…even though today’s one of the first chances to tour these new furnished models.
“People haven’t had this kind of confidence in the market in years,” says Adana Leonard, Shea’s sales manager, who’ll have cookies and coffee out in Shea’s value-packed ‘Northern Sky’ 4-bedroom model – 3,439 square feet finished. “Now there’s a whole difference in the conversations.” Some of that new demand, Leonard says, is about the quality of the home sites Shea is opening, along with these new plans. You can see 17, including cul-de-sacs and walkout basement situations – all of them close to the bike trails and open space that weave BackCountry; not to mention Sundial House with its outdoor amphitheater, resort-styled pools and grottos, where kids meet, and where parents chill out at day’s end in Pikes Pub, over cosmos or Manhattans. Kids, says Leonard, are front-and-center in why BackCountry is drawing buyers from Denver, as well as out of state (three of her last reservations are from distant points, including a couple from Phoenix who were going over details while their 5-year-old explored the surroundings). “People are always asking, ‘Will there be kids?'” she told me. California buyers told her they were worried about their children giving up their west coast friends. A few weeks later, Leonard added, the kids came by the model, bringing all of their new BackCountry pals along, to raid the cookie jar. BackCountry designs its amenities – including a full-time activities director – to facilitate getting kids involved. (BackCountry is also served by Douglas County’s Stone Mountain Elementary – ten-for-ten stars at GreatSchools.net – not to mention the quality of high and middle schools, and private academies like Valor High. In addition to the Northern Sky, an even larger ‘Solstice’ model, and two other popular models on view, you can see two Northern Skies under way on Autumn Song Court – one priced at $581,360 – still time to pick your custom finishes. And Shea Homes will put $40,000 toward your options (ask Leonard or her partner Carole Rollins for details).
