KEYSTONE, Colo.—Authorities say a 23-year-old skier from the Denver area is dead after hitting a tree while skiing at Keystone Resort.
The Summit County coroner’s office Saturday identified the skier as Truitt Hunter of Castle Rock. Witnesses reported seeing Truitt on the intermediate run, Spring Dipper Trail, when he caught a ski edge and veered into a tree at about 1 p.m. Friday.
The ski patrol and an emergency crew tried to revive Truitt before he was rushed to Keystone Medical Center, where he was eventually pronounced dead.
The coroner says the cause of death was multiple skull fractures.
