BOULDER, Colo.—Kailey Edwards scored 20 points as Legacy defeated Monarch 58-51 to win the Class 5A girls state basketball championship Friday night.

Monarch led 14-5 early as Alexus Johnson controlled the inside before sitting with foul trouble. However, an 11-0 run by the Lightning in the second quarter gave them a 28-26 halftime lead.

Monarch threatened but couldn’t overtake the Lightning in the end.

Ashton Davis led Monarch with 13. Rebecca Richmond added 11, and Johnson had 10.
