On Thursday, rock band — with frontman Adam Gardner, guitarist Ryan Miller, bassist Luke Reynolds and drummer Brian Rosenworcel — played with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra at Boettcher Concert Hall. The performance was a crowd-pleaser: The show got two standing ovations before the first intermission.
At times, though, the sharpness of the acoustic drums and the fullness of a high-energy rock band seemed to drown out the orchestra’s sound. But without a doubt, the orchestra’s presence added a richness and edge to Guster’s songs that made it seem like they should try it again.
