Top-seeded Air Force lost Saturday night to Connecticut 3-1 at the academy’s Cadet Ice Arena, leaving their Atlantic Hockey Association best-of-three quarterfinal series tied 1-1.
The Falcons cut UConn’s lead to one goal with a rebound goal, their third of the weekend, at 6:35 of the second period. Scott Holm scored from the left side of the slot after two saves by the Huskies.
Connecticut was able to regain its two-goal advantage at 18:44 of the third period on a goal by Cole Schneider.
Air Force outshot Connecticut 47-14 but was unable to generate more than one goal against the UConn defense.
The series concludes tonight at 7 p.m., with a trip to Rochester, N.Y., for the AHA semifinals on the line.
Michigan Tech 4, Colorado College 3 (OT)
COLORADO SPRINGS — David Johnstone scored 3:30 into overtime to send the Huskies (16-18-4) to their first WCHA Final Final in five years with a victory over the Tigers (18-15-2).
Johnstone scored the game’s first and final goals to help the Huskies sweep the Tigers.
Andrew Hamburg scored two goals for Colorado College, which was outshot 41-32 in the game.
