DENVER—A jury has acquitted the former Denver Hispanic Chamber of Commerce chief executive of assault following a four-day trial.
The Denver Post reports ( ) a jury declared Jeffrey Campos not guilty Friday about 20 minutes after jurors got the case. The 56-year-old Campos testified during his trial, admitting to a nine-month affair with a real estate agent 22 years his junior.
Police arrested Campos in July following an argument the two had in a car while driving through downtown Denver. Campos testified they were arguing over alleged promises that Campos would leave his wife of 26 years.
A juror interviewed by the newspaper says lack of bruises in police photographs were key in finding Campos not guilty.
Campos resigned from the chamber shortly after his arrest.
