FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Abby Chapman scored 17 points and Faith Christian defeated Eaton 49-44 Saturday night in the Class 3A girls basketball state finals.
The eighth-seeded Eagles (20-7) came on strong in the second half, outscoring the Reds 14-8 in the third quarter to take a 33-29 lead at Colorado State’s Moby Arena.
Leah Cheney led Eaton (25-2), the third seed, with 10 points.
Faith Christian shot 37 percent from the field, while the Reds only made 19 percent of their shots. Eaton had 39 free throws, but made only 20 of them.
