DENVER—A federal judge has ordered that a Highlands Ranch man accused of charges relating to human trafficking be held without bond until his case is resolved.
A federal magistrate judge had previously allowed 47-year-old Kizzy Kalu to be released on bond, but prosecutors appealed the decision.
U.S. District Court Judge Marcia S. Krieger ruled Thursday that Kalu’s undisclosed business and financial ties and his ties to Nigeria make him a potential flight risk.
A grand jury has accused Kalu and 77-year-old Philip Langerman of McDonough, Ga., of bringing foreign nationals to the U.S. under false pretenses to work for Kalu’s health care company.
