The rental cars racing out of Waco, Texas, on Wednesday afternoon likely were headed to airports with flights to the Bay Area.

Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III and wide receiver Kendall Wright worked out in Waco for about 60 representatives of 25 NFL teams, including Redskins owner Daniel Snyder. Most of those people will be at Stanford on Thursday for quarterback Andrew Luck’s predraft workout.

Luck is the projected No. 1 pick (to the Colts) in the April 26-28 draft. Griffin is the projected No. 2 pick (to the Redskins). Scouts at Griffin’s predraft workout Wednesday were impressed with the 2011 Heisman Trophy winner. Griffin threw 51 passes, displaying accuracy on a variety of routes.

Luck didn’t throw at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis last month, so teams are eager to see him throw Thursday.

Jim Harbaugh, who coaches the 49ers, has no doubt that Luck can be an NFL star. Harbaugh, a former NFL quarterback, coached Luck at Stanford. “He’s one of the finest football players I’ve been around and even a better person,” Harbaugh said. “I don’t want to play against him.”

David Shaw, who coached Luck at Stanford last season, gave Luck the freedom to call the Cardinal’s plays — including audibles. That’s one of the reasons Luck is considered an NFL-ready quarterback.

Luck has extraordinary accuracy and vision as a passer. Teams will see that for themselves Thursday, when Luck will strengthen his status as the top pick in the draft.
