Good news for fans of music, arts and crafts, storytelling and delicious frybread: The 38th annual Denver March Powwow brings together all that and more, as well as tribe members from all over the region, for this weekend’s big event.

Dance competitions are at the heart of the three-day powwow, with different age groups and divisions competing in a variety of disciplines including jingle, grass and fancy shawl. Wicaglata — a singing style with men’s and women’s voices and drum accompaniment — has its own contest, too.

On Sunday, the powwow crowns its 2012 princess with the help of 2011 Princess Mikala SunRhodes.

The powwow runs 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. today; 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday; 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m Sunday. At the Denver Coliseum, 4600 Humboldt St.; 720-865-2475. Admission is $7 per day; $3 for “elders” ages 60 and older. A three-day pass is $20. Admission is free for kids ages 6 and younger.
