A Colorado Springs father told a jury Thursday that he raised early alarms over a former school resource officer’s nude examinations of his 12-year-old son and was assured there had been a mistake.
The man testified that he contacted then-Horace Mann Middle School Principal Scott Stanec late in 2010 and questioned why his son was taken out of class and made to strip nude by then-Officer Joshua Carrier.
“He told me it was a misunderstanding, everything was taken care of, and it wouldn’t happen again,” he said as testimony continued at Carrier’s sex assault trial.
But according to authorities, Carrier’s practice of having students strip nude in his office continued for months afterward — allowing Carrier, 31, to continue abusing the boy and more than 20 others during the 2010-2011 school year.
