Two fires that started just before 3 p.m. in Golden are now under control, said Karlyn Tilley, spokeswoman for the city of Golden.

The first fire was west of 6th Avenue just south of 19th Street and burned about two acres. It was put out in about 40 minutes.

A smaller fire near the intersection of 10th Street and Jefferson County Parkway was also put out and no acres burned.

Both fires generated from electrical poles and power was knocked out to all homes in Golden west of 6th Avenue.

Xcel Energy was called out to restore power, she said.
