The Douglas County History Research Center is celebrating the public and digital release of the U.S. Census records from 1940 in an open house from 1 to 8:30 p.m. Monday. The 1940 and later censuses are restricted from publication by statute until 72 years after the census date. This is the largest, most comprehensive and most recent record set available for the 132 million people living in the U.S. on April 1, 1940.Castle Rock Genealogical Society members will provide indexing lessons. Plane old fun

Join Charlie Odendhal in a “From Kit to Flight — Build Your Own Plane”demonstration in which he’ll make a radio-controlled model plane from scratch starting at 6 p.m. Friday. A birds-eye view

The Audubon Society of Greater Denver hosts the indoor kickoff to its Beginning Birding Class at 7 p.m. Thursday.
