BOULDER, Colo.—A judge says the first-degree murder case against a Summit County man charged in a 1994 killing in Boulder County can proceed to trial.

Michael Clark is accused in the shooting death of Marty Grisham, who was the city of Boulder’s director of information services.

Clark was a friend of Grisham’s daughter. He pleaded guilty to theft and forgery for stealing and using checks belonging to Grisham at the time but denied involvement in Grisham’s death.

Clark was arrested last January after police reopened the investigation.

The Daily Camera reports ( ) that at a preliminary hearing Thursday, Clark’s attorneys questioned the credibility of witnesses. The judge at a preliminary hearing must view the evidence in the light most favorable for the prosecution. He ruled the case can go to trial.
