BOULDER, Colo.—Dozens of runners and friends are remembering ultrarunner Micah True, who died last week while running in southwestern New Mexico.
The Daily Camera reports ( ) about 200 people gathered Friday at Chautauqua Park in Boulder, Colo., for a run in his honor, then shared stories about True, nicknamed Caballo Blanco.
Searchers in New Mexico found his body March 31, four days after he had gone out for a run. He was found along a mountain stream in a remote part of the Gila Wilderness, with no obvious signs of trauma.
True worked to develop the 50-mile-plus Copper Canyon race in the Mexican state of Chihuahua as a celebration of the indigenous Tarahumara’s way of life and their love of running. He was featured in the bestselling book “Born to Run.”
