LAKEWOOD, Colo.—The Lakewood City Council has tightened public smoking rules, but rejected demands for stricter regulations.

The council expanded the no-smoking area around building entrances from 15 feet to 25 feet. They also barred the opening of any more smoking bars.

According to the Denver Post ( ), the council rejected demands that restaurant patios be smoke-free all the time and ban smoking inside tobacco businesses.

The Durango City Council is also considering extending its smoking ban. The proposal would include the Animas River Trail, playgrounds and outdoor restaurant patios.
