Sleigh Bells is, quite simply, an attack on the senses. The electro-thrash duo of guitarist Derek Miller and singer Alexis Krauss perform with the volume knobs of Marshall stacks turned much closer to “22” than “11.” Miller’s guitar tone is singular in its ’80s metal nostalgia and bridges the gap between pop hooks and sensory deprivation. The duo’s 2012 album, “Reign of Terror,”is a smart and welcomed follow-up to 2010’s “Treats,” with songs like “Comeback Kid” cresting 500,000 views on YouTube. Tickets for tonight’s show at the Ogden Theatre, $25, are available through . Javelin and Elite Gymnastics will open the concert.
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers will kick off their spring/summer tour with a pair of shows at Broomfield’s 1stBank Center next week. At 61, Petty is nearing retirement age by conventional standards, though anyone who has seen the roots-rocker live can attest that he’s far from hanging up the guitar and mouth harp. He’s two years removed from his last studio album, “Mojo,” so fans can likely expect a retrospective of radio hits and obscure nuggets. Tickets for Wednesday, $49.50-99.50, are available through TicketHorse. Thursday is sold out.
