A man from Gabon who was in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement died Thursday morning at Aurora Medical Center.
Evalin-Ali Mandza, 46, was taken by ambulance from the ICE detention center in Aurora about 6:30 a.m. Thursday after he complained of chest pains. He died two hours later. The cause of death has not been determined.
Mandza, who entered the country on a visitor’s visa in 1996, had been in ICE custody since October, 2011 when he was released from jail. ICE reports Mandza is the seventh detainee to die in ICE custody this fiscal year.
