LOVELAND —The Thompson School District staff will advocate Wednesday for re-instatement of student instructional fees that three years ago went by the wayside as a means to help families cope with tough economic times.
Having cut $7.5 million from the district budget since 2009, the school district is looking at ways to save money to backfill an estimated $6 million deficit.
Leaders say that while it’s not a large sum, the almost $270,000 generated would go a long way in making sure students have what they need to learn.
But many, including school board members, are worried that this puts too many burdens on parents’ shoulders.
