RECORD-KEEPING HELP
Site keeps track so you don’t have to
As exciting as it is in the spring to scribble down lists of plants to buy and projects to tackle, come fall those lists, along with any growing instructions, helpful articles or inspirational snapshots, can become indoor clutter. And by the following year? Oh, brother. Enter PlantJotter. This membership-based site — costing $21 a year or $45 for three years — is an online garden journal that allows users to keep centralized, integrated gardening records. The site also includes plant care resources and expert advice.

Containers up off the ground
Knox Garden Box is a subsidiary of California’s Knox Roofing Co. that produces sturdy, pre-assembled, raised garden beds and boxes. Not only do these boxes have the benefits of raised beds — less compacted soil, better drainage, fewer pests, and more climate control — they also undercut the sore-muscle issues that afflict many gardeners after a long day of bending and kneeling. Knox also makes handles and wheels for its containers. Prices range from $15 for a starter box to $629 for a king-size box (measuring 4 by 8 feet). Shipping and accessories are extra. Visit or call 831-461-9430.
