STERLING – The only man to ever escape beyond a lethal electric fence at the Sterling Correctional Facility pleaded guilty at 2 p.m. Friday to charges stemming from his August 22, 2010 escape, 9Wants to Know has learned.
Douglas Alward sentenced to 30 years after pleading guilty to first-degree burglary and second-degree kidnapping. He will serve his sentences consecutively.
Alward previously pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to charges of escape, kidnapping and being a habitual criminal.
