AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo.—The Air Force Academy says at least seven cadets who were investigated after reports of cadets using banned substances are being disciplined.

The investigation was announced in January and has since grown to include 31 cadets. The academy said Wednesday that so far three cadets have received non-judicial punishments, and non-judicial punishment has been initiated on four more cadets.

Four other cadets are awaiting a command decision on their fate. Eight cadets have been cleared, and investigations into 12 cadets are ongoing.

The investigation stems from an order Academy Superintendent Lt. Gen. Mike Gould issued in 2010 prohibiting the use of intoxicating substances beyond alcohol, caffeine, tobacco or lawfully used prescription drugs.
