MANITOU SPRINGS —Justin Armour, a former Broncos wide receiver and The Denver Post’s 1990 Gold Helmet winner, has resigned as head football coach at Manitou Springs.

In an e-mail, Armour said, “It was a tough decision … and I will stay on as an assistant.”

Armour, 39, has too many other duties personally and professionally that have forced a change after two years and a 4-15 record guiding the Mustangs.

As a top student-athlete, Armour led the Mustangs at quarterback in their single-wing offense to a state title 22 years ago and went on to star as a wide receiver at Stanford.

He works for the Manitou Springs District, owns a restaurant and has two children. He also played in the NFL with Baltimore, Buffalo and Philadelphia.
