BOULDER, Colo.—Opponents of a cleanup project east of Boulder say workers are spreading contaminated soil and disturbing graves of early residents.

Some 300,000 cubic yards of earth are being removed from the former ore-processing site.

City officials said they are aware there may be unmarked graves and they promise workers will tread carefully in those areas. They also have archaeological monitors to protect the graves of Native Americans and early settlers.

According to the Boulder Daily Camera ( ), the contaminated soil contains lead, arsenic and radium.
