The Douglas County Sheriff’s Department Monday released charges in an that killed 54-year-old jogger Sherry Peters.
Kathleen McClure-Orme, 45, of Highlands Ranch was charged with the traffic offense careless driving causing death, as Class 1 misdemenator traffic offense that can result in up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000, according to Colorado statutes.
Court records indicate Orme-McClure’s only previous offense in Colorado was a ticket alleging she was speeding 10 to 19 mph over the posted speed limit in Douglas County in 2000. The charge was later dismissed, court records indicate.
The collision happened at 10:10 a.m. on that Saturday in the crosswalk at Broadway and Dad Clark Boulevard. Two other cars were involved in the same fatal accident.
