Three people were hurt, one seriously, early this morning when two vehicles slammed head-on into each other near Robinson Road, throwing one vehicle into the ravine.

The names of the people involved have not been released; all three were taken to St. Anthony Central Hospital.

One person had life-threatening injuries, said Sgt. Mike Baker, spokesman for the Colorado State Patrol.

A 1989 Oldsmobile sedan collided head-on with a 1995 Honda Accord about 5:30 a.m. on the Golden Gate Canyon Road near Robinson Road, Baker said.

One of the cars crashed into the ravine, he said. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. The circumstances of the crash are not yet known, he added.

Golden Gate Canyon Road was closed west of Highway 93 until just after noon.
