
Dance: DanceAfrica planting Denver roots
Today-Sunday. DanceAfrica began in New York as a vibrant celebration of African culture and its worldwide diaspora, and the festival itself has become a national tradition. Now in its 35th year overall, the Denver installment is returning for its second round of performances, art exhibits, workshops, music and an African cultural bazaar led by Denver’s own Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble and featuring St. Louis-based dance-and-drumming outfit Afriky Lolo, Atlanta’s all-female dance, percussion and vocal ensemble Giwayen Mata and Brazil’s Capoeira Luanda. 7:30 p.m. today; 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday; 2 p.m. Sunday.
