Colorado Springs police are looking for a man suspected of hurling a rock at a liquor store clerk and later robbing two people with a knife.
Around 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, officers were called to a liquor store, located in the 2500 block of Delta Drive, on a report of an attempted robbery, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department’s crime blotter.
Witnesses said that a man walked into the store, threatened employees with a rock and demanded money. The man allegedly threw the rock at one of the employees and tried to hit a second.
The suspect fled the store without any money.
The man was described as being in his 30s, about 5 feet 7 to 10 inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing a tan shirt, tan pants and a black ski mask.
Officers searched the area but did not find the suspect.
About two hours after the suspect entered the liquor store, officers leaving the scene were contacted by two people who said a man had approached them and demanded money.
The suspect allegedly threatened the two with a knife and hit one of them before running away. The victims’ description matched that of the man suspected of trying to rob the liquor store two hours earlier.
The man was last seen in the area of East Fountain Boulevard and Alvarado Drive. Police believe he has been involved in several robberies in which he used a rock to threaten people.
