REDSTONE, Colo.—Environmentalists say the Crystal River near Redstone is one of the most endangered rivers in the nation because of proposals for dams and diversions.
A coalition says the river’s status as one of the last and largest free-flowing rivers in Colorado is being challenged.
According to the Aspen Times ( ), water providers have conditional water rights that could be used to build the 4,000-acre-foot Placita Reservoir; a similar-size reservoir on Yank Creek and a water diversion on Avalanche Cree.
