AURORA — A popular children’s event in Aurora is being tweaked this year, in part because of budgetary constraints.
KidSpree — the city’s annual festival for children featuring games and other attractions — will be shortened to one day this year. In the past, the event was held over two days, said Ida Broadnax, special-events coordinator for the city.
In addition, the city is adding a variety of features, such as food trucks, aimed at catering to adults at the event, Broadnax said.
“We’ve usually just had festival food, like popcorn and chicken fingers,” she said. “We’re trying to offer a little bit of something for everyone.”
The festival is expected to attract about 8,000 people this year, she said.
It will be held at the Aurora Municipal Center.
KidSpree will take place from noon to 6 p.m. July 14. Admission is free, but parking in the Municipal Center garage costs $5.
