Two officers were injured when Aurora police chased down two men suspected of robbing a liquor store Saturday night.
Police received a call that two men, one with a gun, were seen fleeing Shana’s Liquors at 14573 E. Mississippi Ave. at 11:05 p.m., said Aurora police spokesman Officer Frank Fania.
Moments later, an officer spotted a black Nissan Xtera that matched the description of the suspects’ car heading west on E. Mississippi. “The officer tried to pull them over, they didn’t stop and a chase followed.”
The Xtera fled through Aurora and into Denver.
Aurora police boxed the Xterra in near E. 16th Avenue and Xanthia Street.
When police reached the car, the suspects refused to get out and a struggle took place. One officer injured a knee and the other hurt his hand. The vehicle was impounded and police are waiting for a search warrant to examine the car.
Police did see money in the vehicle, but the search will determine if the gun is in there as well.
The suspects, both in their 20, who are being held at the Aurora City Detention Facility, have not been identified by police.
