Staff from Colorado’s Ikea outpost will help kick-start Memorial Day weekend on Thursday by giving away free blue tote bags in downtown Denver. This is part of Ikea’s periodic Random Act of Life Improvement campaign, which so far has included a tree-seedling giveaway and a coffee-cup giveway. The chain stopped using plastic shopping bags in 2007 as part of its goal to increase sustainable practices. It’s rummage time
St. Michael and All Angels Church has scheduled its annual Spring Rummage Sale Thursday through Saturday. Parishioners have donated clothing, shoes, household items, sports equipment, furniture, toys, books and more. Get a head start at the two-hour pre-sale Thursday at 5 p.m. Admission is $5. The sale continues from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Admission is free. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo hosts a three-day Memorial Day Weekend Plant Sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday through May 28.
