DENVER—Organizers hope clouds that are expected to move through Colorado’s Front Range on Sunday evening won’t put a damper on several viewing parties planned for the annular solar eclipse.
The Denver Post ( ) reports the eclipse will begin at 6:23 p.m., and the moon will cover about 80 percent of the sun at 7:30 p.m.
The University of Colorado at Boulder is hosting a party at Folsom Field beginning at 5 p.m. in hopes of drawing 15,000 people to see the eclipse over the Flatirons, a group of rocky outcroppings west of town.
There also is a solar eclipse party planned at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science at 6 p.m. and at Denver University’s Chamberlin Observatory, also at 6 p.m.
Sunday evening’s forecast calls for partly cloudy skies.
