Over the past few years, hard rock music has been littered with dubstep remixes, DJ collaborations and an abundance of side projects that have given the genre a bit of an identity crisis. Luckily, there are bands like to remind listeners that straightforward rock music is still selling tickets — even on a Monday night.

There were no gimmicks at 10 Years’ headlining show at last night, no bass-dropping beats or crazy light shows. The Tennessee band is often seen in the supporting role at large hard rock festivals and tours, but this headlining gig was quite different.

The group wasted no time getting the packed house jumping from the first note of “Now Is The Time,” followed immediately by the hit “Beautiful” — a song that is always a highlight of the band’s live show.

Aside from debuting one new song, the set was almost identical to the group’s last headlining show at Summit. There were moments throughout the night, however, that made this night more memorable — including several appearances in the crowd by front man Jesse Hasek and an impressive display from guitarist Tater Johnson, who recovered from breaking his strap by playing his guitar while lying down on stage.

The Monday night audience remained captivated throughout the entire set, collectively belting out the chorus to “Wasteland” and, with encouragement from Hasek, opening up the floor with a mosh pit during the closer, “Shoot It Out.”
