Aurora Police say a driver ran a red light and hit a police officer in his patrol car nearly head on in the intersection of E. Iliff Avenue and S. Tower Road around 5:30 Wednesday morning.
Police say they spoke to two witnesses who saw the officer trying to make a left turn onto E. Iliff Avenue when a driver traveling south on S. Tower Road ran a red light and hit the officer. Witnesses told police the officer had a green left turn arrow.
Both the officer and the driver of the other vehicle were reportedly up and walking around after the accident, however they were both taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
