A driver died in Weld County this morning after losing control of a car and crashing into a tree.

The single-car crash happened near the intersection of Weld County roads 80 and 23, according to a Weld County Sheriff’s Office media release.

The sheriff’s office said a 1997 two-door Saturn was heading south on Weld County Road 23 when the car left the road and hit a tree.

The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected and died at the scene. The name of the victim was not released.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
