Seven kite surfers had to be rescued from Aurora Reservoir late this afternoon, when high sustained winds swept in.

Divers and other emergency personnel were called at about 6:30 p.m. with a report of a group of stranded or missing people in the lake.

All seven were able to get out of the water on their own as rescuers arrived, and none of the group sustained injuries, said Capt. Allen Robnett, a spokesman for the Aurora Fire Department.

Aurora Reservoir, 5800 S. Powhaton Road, is about 2 miles east of E-470 and of water surface.
