DENVER—Metropolitan State College of Denver trustees have approved a recommendation to cut tuition by more than half for illegal immigrants living in Colorado.

The recommendation was approved Thursday after a finance committee reviewed the proposal as part of the college’s upcoming budget for the next school year. The measure affecting illegal immigrants is a key component.

College president Stephen Jordan drew praise for providing more students a chance for an affordable education after presenting the proposed cuts for illegal immigrants.
