Where did you watch Wednesday’s wild weather, besides out the window?
Amid the hail, torrential rain, tornado warnings and flooding across metro Denver, 7News stayed with storm coverage into the wee hours.
When the storm didn’t relent after midnight, neither did Channel 7, alone among local TV outlets. The result: nearly 39,000 homes stayed with the station. Viewership peaked with the storm at 12:30 a.m., when KMGH registered a 3.8 rating and 17 share (percent of the viewing audience), according to preliminary Nielsen data.
This is when the news battle shows serious commitment, and viewers noticed.
“Bravo to Channel 7 — the only local station to stay on the air during this storm, which hit Highlands Ranch twice. I was able to call my two sons who both live around Wadsworth and Kipling which was under a tornado warning around midnight,” Judy Fields said in an email. “They have earned my loyalty.
